  AKASA COOLING REVIEW
AKASA COOLING REVIEW

Fusion NET takes a look at some of Akasa’s range of PC cooling products. The Akasa Company was founded in 1997 in Taipei and London and has since expanded to Rotterdam, Sao Paulo and Brazil. Their current focus is within the PC cooling market and currently distributes in Asia Pacific, Middle East, Northern and Southern Europe, USA and South America. Akasa’s range of products includes Cooling, Power Supplies, Cables, and Case Mods.

Today’s competitive expanding market of cooling components within the PC industry has meant lower prices and more choice for common pc users, pc enthusiasts and overclockers. As software applications and games have become increasingly demanding so have the cooling requirements of today’s modern PC systems. Today’s CPU’s, Graphics Cards and Hard Drives all add immense heat to your PC system and pose a threat towards the functionality of your computers hardware. It is important if you are using your PC over long hours or overclocking your hardware to have sufficient air flow to cool down those components. Relying on the existing cooling hardware within your PC may not do the job as PC manufacturers often take other factors into consideration, such as noise levels, because of this companies are often deterred from incorporating higher performance cooling hardware. Akasa provide various easy-to-install cooling products to enable you to use your system with peace of mind and their range of LED products add style to your PC case.

In this review we took a look at the following products from Akasa:

  • Blue Hard Disk Cooler (AK-HD-BL)
  • Crystal Blue Frame 80mm LED Fan (AK-170CB-4BLBSC)
  • Silver Floppy Drive Cable (FD-45-S)
  • Cable Management Kit (AK-TK-01)

    Features and Specifications

To take full advantage of Akasa’s products we used a test system which outputs a lot of heat. Here is what we used:

  • Intel Pentium 4 560 3.6 GHz ( 800 MHz )
  • Gigabyte 3D Rocket Pro CPU Cooler
  • ASUS P5AD2 Premium Motherboard
  • Asus ATI Radeon X800 XT 256MB (PCI Express)
  • Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-5400 Pro
  • Audigy 2 ZS Player Sound Card
  • 2x 250GB SATA Drive
  • 2x 34.2GB SCSI Drive's
  • PCI SCSI Controller
  • DVD-R Drive
  • 600Watt PSU

    Blue Hard Disk Cooler (AK-HD-BL)
Akasa’s hard disk cooler is a twin fan cooling device which mounts underneath 3 ˝ inch hard disk drives. The twin fans are designed to draw in cool air towards the hard drive’s circuitry and motor system. Operating at a speed of 5000 RPM the fans provide an air flow of 9.0 CFM (higher the better) and run at a sound level of 29.0 decibels (lower the better). The cooler incorporates a light weight metal design with a blue scratch texture finish.

Crystal Blue Frame 80mm LED Fan (AK-170CB-4BLBSC)
Akasa’s Crystal Blue Frame 80mm fan comes from their stylish range of high-performance fans for front, rear and side intake 80mm case fan slots. The fan operates at a speed of 2000 – 3800 RPM, which can be adjusted to fit noise level and performance requirements using the fans manual speed control. Akasa’s Crystal Blue Frame fan is one of the fastest 80mm LED fans available from Akasa and features an air flow of 25.6 – 46.1 CFM, running at a sound level of 22.06 – 38.86 decibels. The included 3 to 4-pin adapter enables you to connect the fan directly to a standard 4-pin PSU power connector.
