Asus P4SDX Deluxe Motherboard Review
Asus’s new P4SDX is a motherboard designed to bring users into the new age of computing. The P4SDX provides consumers with all the latest in technologically advanced features, such as support for Intel’s leading Hyper Threading technology. To add to a very promising list of features the P4SDX also provides users with a 1000 mbps LAN interface, DDR Dual Channel Memory Interface, AGP 8X Channel Interface and support for the latest in CPU technology, providing speeds from 3.06Mhz and above. With its six PCI slots and four DDR RAM slots the P4SDX ensures that consumers will be able to easily upgrade their system in the future.
Purchasing a motherboard can at times be quite a long process and it all comes down to getting the perfect board for your requirements and future needs. A motherboard is something which you would want to keep for a while and not have to worry about upgrading for a good few years. Of course the PC market is moving so fast now days it is becoming increasingly hard to keep up. Look at the graphics card market for example, it seems that a different version is released every six months or so and the consumer often finds his way back to the store spending another 400 – 500 odd pounds, just to get what?, the latest in 3D gaming? I was under the impression that the GeForce 256 was the fastest card on the market? Oh, no? It’s now the GeForce FX? OK so let’s go out and spend another 500 quid.
To many it’s no big surprise to say that buying what you think is the latest in computer technology is actually not! Because some technician somewhere is always building something better which when it hits the market will make you feel like you’ve lost another 500 quid. Agreeably the PC market is cruel and it’s not getting any better but I do love what the components do and if it means I have to spend the cash to get the extra oomph I will usually do so.
The P4SDX is a motherboard which provides features to users who demand the best out of their system, normally those who work with demanding 3D and 2D applications. If you are someone who uses his PC for simple operations such as the Internet and letter writing it would be silly to get such a feature rich board. The P4SDX is quite clearly a board for the extreme gamer or developer and the specs say it all.
