Dymo LabelWriter 330 Turbo Review
Developer: Dymo | Product Type: Printer | Price: £186.83 Inc VAT
Hardware Fusion takes a look at one of Dymo’s professional range label printers – The Dymo LabelWriter 330 Turbo. The brand name ‘Dymo’ comes from the prestigious office supplies company, Esselte, who are also responsible for other brand name products, such as Leitz, Pendaflex and Oxford. The Esselte name has been around since the 1970’s but was earlier known as SLT, which was developed in 1913 by thirteen separate Swedish businesses. The Esselte Company scales across 25 countries and produces annual sales of approximately USD 1.1 billion. The company currently employs around 6,500 staff and distributes in over 120 countries worldwide. In 1978 the company acquired DYMO Industries Inc, a San Francisco embossing company. Dymo is now one of the world’s major suppliers of stamping products for home, office and commercial use.

It’s easy to use software package and integration with Microsoft Office makes it versatile and easy to use for both office and home consumers. The supplied Dymo Label software manages to be a very resourceful and efficient application, which enables you to design and print your labels with ease. The applications design capabilities means you can add various rich-content media, such as images, circular text, styled text and even bar codes. This office orientated application means it has a very extensive address book function, which enables you to add 1000’s of entries for fast and effective labeling. The Dymo LabelWriter also integrates with common Windows software applications, such as Outlook and Word. The 330 Turbo software works with Windows 95, 98, NT4, 2000, Me and XP and also connects to Macintosh OS 8.6, 9, 9.1 and 10.1, allowing it to be a very PC friendly device.

Along with it’s easy to use software features we found the connectivity of the Dymo LabelWriter 330 Turbo to be superb, which effectively allowed connectivity to all standard PC ports, including USB (Universal Serial Bus), serial and even LAN (Local Area Network) for easy device sharing over a home or office network.
The design of the LabelWriter 330 Turbo constitutes from a very curvy design to what is essentially a very stylish piece of office hardware. Comprised mainly of a RED and Silver coloured theme design with a tinted black top covering the Turbo 330 has a very office fitting look to it but would also be visually suitable for any home user. The Turbo 330 is also considerably light weight and reasonably small in size, this makes it quite easily movable.

One of the main features we liked about this Label writer was its impressive thermal technology and printing speed, which managed to produce high quality prints equal to that of a laser printing device. Not only could it produce high quality text prints but it could also print out decent quality image prints in black and white. Because of its thermal printing technology the Label writer does not use ink and therefore it does not require any ink or ribbon replacements, therefore saving consumers money and providing a very cost-effective way of printing labels. Users are, however, required to purchase a particular type of label, which can be quite expensive depending on the brand.
Conclusion
The Dymo LabelWriter 330 Turbo is the fastest, most cost-effective label printer currently on the market. It’s excellent connectivity and wide array of user-friendly features means it is the clear choice for any professional business who is seeking efficiency within the work place. Its printing capabilities provides a clear selling point for not only businesses but also for home consumers, however its high retail price will deter most home consumers from buying such a prestigious business product and will more then likely sway buyers into looking at some of Dymo’s more basic range products. Its high retail price may also be compared to many high quality printers which will effectively be able to do more for around the same price, however we believe that it was the intention of Dymo to put across efficiency over any other factor and we feel the product achieves that very well indeed. Hardwarefusion.net is going to award the Dymo LabelWriter 330 Turbo with an “Award for Excellence” and “Best Buy” Award. The Dymo LabelWriter 330 Turbo is available in all major retail outlets priced at £186.83 Inc VAT. Dymo’s additional range products can be viewed here.
